Thunder, lightening and bright sunshine

16-09-2016

THIS WEEK Thunder, lightening and bright sunshine have all been in the mix this week up at Hill Barn, but despite the varied weather it hasn't hampered the preparation of our first jumps runners for the new season, the first of which will be kicking off today... ENTRIES Jack Bear has been declared to face 11 rivals on his hurdling debut today at Newton Abbot. He has been progressive on the flat since joining the yard in the spring and is now ready to start his hurdling career. The track and ground should be ideal for him, and although he will stay further in time 2 miles shouldn't be an issue. The main danger is the Jim Best trained Echo Brava, who has some decent placed form without winning as well as the Paul Morgan trained Winning Ticket. Harry Teal takes the ride and gets on with him very well. This is a nice starting point for Jack and we can't wait to see him over hurdles in public. Ahraam is entered to make his hurdles debut at Plumpton on Sunday. He is a very tough genuine horse, who has schooled well and should be suited to the switch to jumping. He has progressed with every run for the yard on the flat and we are hopeful he can improve again. The ground is likely to be on the firm side which will suit and the sharp nature of the track will be right up his street. Gavin Sheehan has done most of the schooling on him and will take the ride if available. 5 TO FOLLOW

We're delighted to announce HWR will be running a 5 TO FOLLOW competition this season! It's just £5 to enter and all you need to do is pick 5 horses from our strong (one of which must be unraced) plus a reserve, which will be substituted in the event a chosen horse becomes injured. The competition will run from 26th September 2016 – 30th April 2017.  Every horse in training listed both on our website and in the horses in training brochure are available for selection. To enter in advance of the owners day please email your selections to Alice (info@harrywhittington.co.uk). Good Luck!
