READY TO SET SAIL INTO THE SEASON…

30-09-2016

THIS WEEK It been a busy weekend with our Owners' Day on Sunday, the sun shone and despite the usual blustery Hill Barn winds a great day was had by all.  So it's that time of year again and things are really getting going. We've got our first couple of autumn runners coming up over the weekend and we're ready to set sail into the season ahead... ENTRIES Affaire D'Honneur has held 4 entries over the last few days, but the plan is to run him at Fontwell tomorrow.  He's had a nice long summer break, strengthened well and is ready to kick start the winter season for HWR.  This race will be a big class drop for him, the step up in trip we feel will suit and it should be a great opportunity to get his head in front.  He's a classy horse and we're hopeful this will be a nice confidence booster for him. Salto Chisco is set to make his debut for the yard and the newly launched 'British Racing Club' at Huntingdon on Sunday.  He won a chase on his penultimate start for Oliver Sherwood and runs off just 1lb higher in this contest.  He's been in great form since joining the team at Hill Barn and we're hopeful he will be very competitive. The track and ground should suit. Pink Play holds an entry at Southwell on Monday, but the plan is to swerve that and wait for a race at Market Rasen the following week.  She has also done well for a break and is in good form at home. Ahraam has been entered at Ludlow on Wednesday, in a Juvenile Maiden Hurdle.  He ran a blinder at Plumpton on hurdles debut and has come out of the race really well.  His jumping was particularly good and that should stand him in great stead against some less experienced rivals here.  The ground is likely to be on the quick side which suits and he should come on for his first hurdles run. Emerging Force holds entries at Hereford and Exeter on Thursday, but is likely to wait for Chepstow on the 9th to make his chase debut.  He is our highest rated horse and is every inch a chaser, hopefully he can fly the flag for the yard this season. Octagon is also entered at Hereford on Thursday, the first of four options for him.  He is new to us this season and has shown bags of speed in his homework, so we are dropping him back to the minimum trip for his yard debut.  A mark of 120 looks workable and he should give The Harry Whittington Racing Club a lot of fun and excitement this season.  His schooling has been excellent. Until next week...
