EASTER AHEAD

14-04-2017

THIS WEEK After a sunny visit up to Liverpool over the weekend and positive results for both runners we've busy again this week preparing for The Lambourn Open Day on Friday.  Do call in if your in the area for a wander around the yard, to see some familiar equine faces and have a chat to the team.  As usual Harry's Bar will be open serving up hot and cold drinks and some tasty delights.  We're open all morning from 8.30am till around midday. REPORTS Bigmartre ran a solid race to finish midfield at Aintree on Friday.  He travelled well in a handy position under jockey Harry Bannister and put in an exceptional round of jumping.  They went fairly steady throughout the contest and when the field quickened he was caught flat footed.  He was outpaced, but showed a cracking attitude to stay strongly to the line, eventually coming home in 13th.  He has the physique of a chaser and will likely have a chase start before his summer break.  He’s an exciting prospect going forward. FullSizeRender Emerging Force finished a staying on 5th at Aintree on Saturday.  He was given a positive ride by David Bass and put in a great display of jumping.  Similar to in Bigmartre’s race, the pace was only steady, so when they quickened up down the back straight for the final time Force got outpaced.  He stuck at it though eventually coming home in 5th.  It was his first handicap chase and he will have learnt a lot.  He is a lovely staying prospect for next season and if all went to plan, he could line up in the Grand National next year. ENTRIES Regal Gait is set to face 7 rivals at Chelmsford tomorrow afternoon.  He was meant to take his chance at Exeter on Tuesday but the ground got too firm, so he’s been rerouted here.  He is still unexposed on the flat, winning his only handicap start to date and goes into the race in great form.  If he can take another step forward he should have an excellent chance. Tierra Verde is entered in a bumper at Carlisle on Saturday, but needs some ease in the ground to take her chance.  She ran a huge race at Bangor on debut, where she got pushed wide at a crucial time, before staying on.  She has sharpened up at home for the experience and should run well. Salto Chisco is going to switch back to hurdles at either Stratford on Saturday or Chepstow on Monday.  He enjoys the good ground, so conditions will be right up his street.  A mark of 109 looks quite workable, but he did burst a blood vessel last time out, so is on a retrieval mission. Benefit of Luck holds entries at Chepstow on Monday and Exeter on Tuesday, with the latter looking the more likely option at this stage.  He ran a much improved race at Ascot last time out and if he can take another step forward he should run well.  Good ground is important to him. Simply the Betts could make his debut at Huntingdon on Monday.  He is a 4yo gelding by Arcadio and is a full brother to the smart Crimson Ark.  He is a strong athletic horse, who has been working nicely and we look forward to getting him to a racecourse and learning some more about him. Zephyros Bleu holds an entry at Ffos Las this weekend, but unless we get some significant rain he won’t be able to take his chance. Until next week...
