Juniper had her second start in a 2m3f handicap chase at Chepstow on Friday. There were excuses for her last time out at Warwick when she pulled up so we were hoping she could take a step forward here. Sadly things didn't get off to a great start with a standing start, something she wasn't used to and which meant that she got further back than ideal initially. She managed to jump her way nicely into contention, however turning in she was tracking a leading group. She galloped on home at the same pace and having jumped extremely well, finished a creditable 5th. Adrian Heskin reported that she didn’t handle the ground too well and that she would be better suited to good ground in the Spring, so we look forward to her next run on a sounder surface. |
