Almost ready to go…

09-09-2016

With another five young horses coming back into work this week, activity is really beginning to heat up here at Hill Barn.  Meanwhile the rest of the string who have been back in work for a while have pretty much all made their first voyage up the back of the hill and the count down is very much on for the first couple of runners... Ahraam ran another blinder to finish 2nd at Chelmsford yesterday. He was drawn widest of all in the nine runner affair, but that didn't stop jockey Jordan Uys getting him across into a good position early. Ahraam sat second for most of the race and turning into the straight he was still travelling well. He took up the running at the 2f pole and looked the likeliest winner, only to get run down inside the final furlong by last time out winner First Summer. This was another improved effort from him and a flat win should be just around the corner. However he will now switch codes next time out and contest a juvenile hurdle.  He's schooled very well and his attitude should stand him in good stead. We're still seeking full time members of staff to join our great team.  Ideally someone with experience of riding thoroughbred racehorses, but we're also happy to accept applicants in line with the Employer Led Training Programme, which is perfect for over 19s looking to learn and develop the skills needed to be successful in a racing yard through a Racing Groom Skills Passport. Good salary and bonuses for the right candidates, this is an exciting opportunity to work with a friendly and expanding team, in excellent working conditions. If you could very kindly share this information to anyone that might be interested that would be much apprectiated and kindly ask them to contact either Harry or Alice: 01235 751869/info@harrywhittington.co.uk Until next week..
