BUSINESS AS USUAL

21-01-2022

HWR WEEKLY NEWS
After a couple of quiet weeks the horses have all had their usual mid season time-out with wormers, vaccinations, etc and are now feeling stronger than ever! Entries are accumulating on the board and it means we’ll soon be back to business as usual...
ENTRIES
POLDARK CROSS
Poldark Cross shaped with loads of promise at Sedgefield on Boxing Day and he might head to Doncaster on Friday 28, which is the first day of their Sky Bet Chase meeting for a handicap chase.  This 7-year-old still retains stacks of scope for improvement over the bigger obstacles and he should also improve for a step up in trip.
CALIDAD
We have been thinking about switching Calidad to fences sooner rather than later and we've given him a handicap chase entry at Huntingdon on Friday 28, a track that would be a nice place for him to start providing the ground isn't too bad.  Things haven't really worked out for him over hurdles for one reason or another but he's bred for fences and we have not seen the best of him yet.  We'll keep an eye on the entries but he should be competitive off his current mark.
RAFFLES GITANE
Raffles Gitane has been given an entry in the same handicap at Huntingdon.  Conditions weren’t ideal for her at that venue on Boxing Day and she got very tired in the home straight over a trip she was trying for the first time.  It's still early days for her over fences and we should see a different mare back on some nicer ground.
