DREAMING AHEAD

04-05-2018

THIS WEEK Things are really beginning to quieten down here with just the 1 runner to report as more horses have been heading out to the lush grass for their well earned summer breaks this week.  So as the season draws to a close we are feeling proud of what we've achieved and are looking forward to the challenges ahead.  As with last summer we will now be sending these updates bi-weekly rather than weekly until activity begins to pick up again into the new season.  For now there is plenty to look forward and start dreaming about... Dreaming Ahead text 2017-18 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS Since we have now reached the end of the National Hunt season we thought we might share some highlights of a remarkable year, which has been our best yet. We've notched up 27 winners from a 20% strike rate including A Sussex National winner & 2 Grade 2 winners!! So with this we'd like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone one of our wonderful owners and key supporters and to the best team in the world for making it all happen.  Onwards and upwards into the new season!! Guiding Star   HWR 2017-18 NATIONAL HUNT SEASON WIN TALLY  win tally THE HWR 5 TO FOLLOW COMPETITION AND THE WINNER IS.... Congratulations SCOTT COLLYER you are the lucky winner!! In second place is the trainer himself - we promise this is not a fix!  But it goes to show he knows how to pick them... See below full table with the top 25 placings.  More to play for next year and thanks for taking part. 5 to follow final REPORTS Jumbo Davis finished 5th on her first start for the yard at Towcester last Friday.  She went through the race in eye catching fashion and made smooth progress down the far side to get onto the heals of the leaders.  She found her way to the front at the 2 furlong pole, but couldn’t go with the leaders up the stiff Towcester incline, eventually finishing 5th.  She showed up very well for a long way and is better than the bare result.  She’s another nice prospect for next season. ENTRIES Simply The Betts is set to step back into maiden company at Warwick on Monday.  He won a competitive bumper in September, before running to a high level over hurdles, without getting his head in front.  He takes very strong form into the race and should be hard to beat.  He does have other options later in the week, but this is his likely target. simply Djin Conti holds multiple entries this week where he is set to have his second start for the yard.  He finished 3rd at Taunton last time out and didn’t enjoy the testing ground that day.  We’ve been waiting for a sound surface for him and these conditions should show him in a better light.  He should be competitive wherever he goes. djin conti Salto Chisco holds an entry at Warwick on Monday, but is likely to make his seasonal reappearance at Southwell the following week.  He was a star winning 3 for us last season and should be competitive once again this year.  He will mix hurdles and fences. salto chisco Perfect Myth is entered in another bumper at Ludlow on Tuesday.  She missed her intended engagement last month on testing ground and is another who should appreciate a switch to a sound surface.  This looks a competitive race on paper, but she has some solid placed form and a step forward should make her very competitive.  She does have another option a week later at Wincanton. Johnny Rocco is another who has plenty of options in the coming days.  He is set to make his racecourse debut in a bumper and the first entry he holds is at Fontwell on Wednesday.  He is a 4yo Shirocco gelding out of a 5 times winning Milan mare and shows a good attitude in his work at home.  We can’t wait to get him started and learn some more about him. johnny rocco Tangoed holds an entry at Worcester on Thursday and could make her chase debut there.  She won her only start in a point to point last Spring and we are hoping a switch to the larger obstacles will suit her.  She’s attractively weighted on her best form and 2 and a half miles should suit her well.  The better ground is important to her. dreaming ahead end   Until next week...
