HWR WEEKLY NEWS
We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you all health and happiness for the New Year! We will be well represented at both Uttoxeter and Warwick this afternoon and hope to round off the year in style...
REPORTS
SHEILA NASH

Sheila Nash was having her first run back after a while in a mares’ novices’ hurdle at Wetherby on Boxing Day.  She was disappointing last time out, so it was important that she was ridden to make sure she had a good experience and get back in the right direction this time.  It was a shame the conditions were so testing as it exaggerated the winning distance, but she finished 5th nonetheless.  We will find better ground for her next time over a similar trip & track.

RAFFLES GITANE

Raffles Gitane ran in a suitable novices’ handicap chase at Huntingdon on Boxing Day.  She jumped and travelled well and looked to have every chance turning out the back until the very testing ground took its toll.   We will now freshen her up and look for a similar contest on better ground next.

POLDARK CROSS

Poldark Cross delighted us with a really encouraging 2nd at Sedgefield on Boxing Day where over the trip he didn't quite have the same tactical speed as the winner.  It was a big step in the right direction having pulled up last time and we have the option of going up in trip with him.  We look forward to running him again soon.

TRANSFER FRIENDLY
Transfer Friendly finished 5th on his handicap debut at Haydock yesterday in what may well turn out to be a competitive EBF qualifier.  Unfortunately he was probably undone by the drop back to two miles, even on that testing ground.  He travelled nicely under Adrian Heskin who kept him wide for the first mile or so, in search of the better ground.  He then just lacked that change of gear when the pace lifted early in the straight before keeping on well to suggest that a step back up in trip would see him build on this handicap debut.
ENTRIES
HARRY'S HOTTIE

We’ve given Harry’s Hottie a small wind procedure since her run at Lingfield in November and she has been working nicely ahead of her comeback run in a Warwick novices’ hurdle this afternoon.  The step up to 2m5f should suit her given her pointing background and we are hoping that she can take a nice step forward.

JUNIPER

We are excited to get Juniper back on the track, she also heads to Warwick this afternoon, where she goes in the 2m4f handicap chase. She is a nice scopey mare who should thrive over the bigger obstacles.

FAIRE PART SIVOLA

Faire Part Sivola heads to Uttoxeter this afternoon where he should revel in the testing conditions.  He’s in good form and has actually been dropped a couple of pounds since his Doncaster 4th, which means he is only 4lb higher than when running away with that race at Ffos Las in October.

DOCPICKEDME

Docpickedme also heads to Uttoxeter this afternoon for a ten-runner 2m4f novices’ handicap chase.  His point win came in soft ground so we are not expecting conditions to be any problem for him and we are hoping that he can take a step forward here today.

TORIGNI

We’ve given Torigni a couple of entries on Monday, one of which is back over hurdles despite the fact that he opened his chase account at Leicester last time.  It’s more likely we’ll stick to the bigger obstacles and head to Musselburgh where the right-handed circuit should suit him, but we always have the option of switching back to hurdles if we spot the right opening.  We’ll just monitor the entries go with the best option for him.
