SNOW HAS FALLEN

Calidad, our only runner of the week so far, ultimately proved a bit disappointing when sent off a short-priced favourite at Southwell on Tuesday.  Everything looked in place for him but our plans to lead were scuppered by a tearaway rival which meant he then travelled a little bit too well.  He was therefore then unable to get into any sort of rhythm with his jumping and when push came to shove he got a bit tired in the closing stages.  He'll now get a mark and we will look to go chasing which he is bred to do.

Shore Shanty has been declared to run at Wetherby tomorrow afternoon in a novices' handicap chase over 2m3f.  She ran really well at Worcester last time and the form of that race took a boost when the runner-up came out and won at Southwell on Tuesday.  We would ideally like to keep her against the novices for now and we hope she can continue to improve in this new sphere.

Torigni has a few options over the next week but Fontwell on Tuesday looks favourite at this stage.  He’s been dropped 2lb despite running creditably at Market Rasen last time which should help carrying a lower weight at that sort of level.  He has some solid hurdles form and hopefully he can continue to progress over fences.

Seddon came out of his Lingfield race really well and a 4lb rise for that success looks fair.  He holds an entry at Musselburgh on Monday but we are not convinced about his effectiveness over three miles, even on a sharp track like that.  He also has a couple of alternative options later in the week.

Fitz In holds multiple upcoming entries as we look to give him more experience.  He’s more of a long-term project that needs three miles and fences to realise his potential.  He is a likeable recruit from the English point-to-point scene.

Dockpickedme holds entries at Uttoxeter on Tuesday and Newcastle on Thursday, and the former looks more likely at this stage.  The drop back in trip should help as will a small drop in the weights.

Faire Part Sivola holds entries at Taunton and Doncaster next week, it is more likely that we will head for the latter which might be ideal.
