WE’RE BUSY KICKING ON…

12-11-2021

HWR WEEKLY NEWS
Despite the unseasonably mild weather, it definately feels like the National Hunt season is now well underway. The Big November meeting kicks off at Cheltenham this afternoon where we’ll be represented by Breaking Waves who runs in opener at 1.10. And with more entries in the coming week we’ll be busy kicking on…

REPORTS
TRANSFER FRIENDLY

We were delighted with Transfer Friendly’s first outing over hurdles in public at Ffos Las on Sunday, where he finished 3rd.  This young horse stayed on nicely under Jack Quinlan and would have finished a fair bit closer had he not lost momentum when making a mistake at four-out.  That turned out to be an above average novice event for the track on the numbers so we’ve got something to build on and he’s sure to improve as he goes up in trip.

THE GUVNOR
The Guvnor proved a bit disappointing at Bangor on Wednesday in a race that didn't look particularly deep on paper.  Allowed to bowl along at the head of affairs under Jack Quinlan, he was a bit deliberate at his obstacles at times but there were no real excuses on ground he should have liked so it was disappointing to see him struggling over half a mile from home. It's still relatively early days in his hurdling career.
ENTRIES
BREAKING WAVES

Breaking Waves is set to take his chance in a Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham this afternoon before being put away for the winter.  It’s a competitive race but he’s been dropped a couple of pounds in his last two starts and he should get some nice ground, which is what he needs.  It would be great if he could sign off with a big run.

SHORE SHANTY

Shore Shanty will head to Worcester this afternoon. She’s bypassed a couple of options this week as we try and pinpoint the right race for her to get her chasing career up and running.  The novices’ handicap chases can be very competitive at this time of the year but the track should suit and hopefully this is a good option for her to get a nice clear round and a decent educational start.

FAIRE PART SIVOLA

We are looking forward Faire Part Sivola returning to the track this weekend, although we are probably going to need some rain at Fontwell on Sunday if our Ffos Las winner is going to take his chance. He does also have the option to go back to his latest winning venue next Wednesday, which currently looks like the most likely option.  He’s been in great form since his 15-length success on his first run since joining us this summer and a 6lb rise for that win looks more than fair. He’s a horse that operates well on soft ground so we could do with some rain.

CALIDAD

Calidad is ready to run again having been off the track since June and we have a few novices' hurdle options for him, including Fontwell on Sunday, Plumpton on Monday and Warwick on Wednesday. He’s been a bit of a project for us so far in that it took us some time to work out why he wasn’t finishing his races but we are hoping we’ve solved the problem now and he’s been working nicely as he prepares for a return.

TORIGNI

Torigni could head to Plumpton on Monday or Market Rasen on Thursday, much depends on the field sizes because we are looking for a smaller-field event in which we can build his confidence up.

SEDDON

We have the option of going back over fences with Seddon at some point but we are going to stick over hurdles for the time being, as long as we can find some easier ground. He is entered up in a class 3 handicap hurdle at Lingfield on Tuesday.

2 SHARES REMAINING IN A SMALL & AFFORDABLE SYNDICATE WITH AN EXCITING FUTURE PROSPECT
We have a good looking 3yo son of Champs Elysees on sale currently.  He will be part of an 8 person syndicate and there are currently just 2 shares remaining. He is out of a black type Mare (Romantic Fashion) and having been purchased in the summer he has been broken in and ridden away here at Hill Barn Stables. He is a strong, good moving type that carries himself very well and stands at about 16:2.  He is clean of his wind and has a very likeable attitude. Please get in touch for further details or to arrange a viewing: info@harrywhittington.co.uk
