Not so ‘Glorious Goodwood’
11-08-2017
THIS WEEK Since the heavens opened across a not so 'Glorious Goodwood' last week the weather has stayed fairly unsettled throughout, despite that we've been slowing stepping up the work of each of the horses and are now in a nice pre-season routine. Since we're in the middle of a temporary pause in National Hunt racing calendar there's fairly little to report outside of the yard but plenty to look forward to... REPORTS Ritasun took a step back in the right direction to finish 3rd at Market Rasen on Sunday. We switched tactics and dropped him in, which seemed to suit. He produced a much improved jumping display and came to 2 out with every chance, but couldn’t quite pick up as well as the winner. He did race a bit freely in the early stages and this told late on. He is now eligible for a handicap mark and the stronger pace in that discipline should really suit him. ENTRIES Charlie Papa Lima holds a maiden hurdle entry at Newton Abbot on Wednesday and a handicap entry at Market Rasen next Saturday. His handicap debut at Southwell was a pleasing run and although we were slightly disappointed at Stratford last time, the form has worked out nicely with the 2nd placed horse winning since. His form is very solid and his turn should be just around the corner. Ritasun is entered in a classified claiming race at Beverley on Wednesday. He has come out of the Market Rasen race well and if the ground dries out enough it should be a great opportunity to get his head in front. Until next time...
